Meet Zeke IV

Our Favorite WonderDog

Hi there! I’m Zeke — Michigan State’s one and only WonderDog! I’m a frisbee-catching, tail-wagging, crowd-hyping superstar, and I’ve been leaping across Spartan Stadium since I was just a pup.

Every game day, you can find me soaring through the air during halftime, showing off my best flips, jumps, and mid-air snags (don’t worry — I make it look easy). When I’m not performing in front of thousands of cheering fans, I’m training with my handler, JIm, playing fetch like a champ, and making special appearances around campus and the Lansing community.

I’m more than just a good boy — I’m a Spartan tradition. The legacy of Zeke goes back to the 1970s, and I’m proud to carry the pawprint of those who came before me. Whether you’re in the stands or watching from home, I’m here to bring the energy, the fun, and a whole lot of Spartan spirit.

So grab a frisbee and follow along — the WonderDog is always ready for the next big catch!

The Wonderful Legacy of Zeke

The Original Zeke

The WonderDog started in 1977 with MSU student Gary Eisenberg and his competitive Yellow Lab, Zeke. Michigan State University caught wind of Zeke after he won runner-up at the Frisbee Dog World Championship. Eisenberg and Zeke excited crowds with MSU football until 1984. Zeke's legacy was put on hold after his passing.

A Continued Legacy

In 2001, a new WonderDog entered Spartan Stadium. Dexter, owned by Terri and Jim Foley, was a black lab with speed, skill, and spirit. The talented Zeke II ruled the stadium until 2007, establishing Zeke as Sparty's best furry friend.  Zeke II performed his last routine to the MSU band's rendition of "Who Let the Dogs Out?" before he reitired.

A Generational Sensation

The Foleys continued Zeke's story with a spectacular young pup named BooCoo. Zeke III passed the frisbee to Buckshot, Zeke IV in 2012. Zeke IV currently runs the field with Spartan pride and an energy to keep the crowd cheering.
